LOOSE ENDS & FRIENDS
AN INDIE FILM FESTIVAL
During the entirety of 2025, I dedicated many nights towards coordinating an independent film festival while also developing a 25-minute short film with a budget of $500 because I really believe that the most interesting stories are no longer coming from the big screen, but from the one in our pockets.
To prove this point, I set out to try and provide a safe space for creatives to meet and inspire one another, in hopes to pave a new road for younger filmmakers and aspiring artists. I took on the mission to write, direct, produce, and act in my short film titled Loose Ends, with the intent of eventually premiering it to fellow creators here in Chicago. To my surprise...
I ended up hosting an entire film festival that successfully celebrated local filmmakers in front of hundreds of creatives while also giving back to our community! All in the neighborhood I grew up in, Bridgeport. I still can’t believe it.
We anticipated a chill event, quiet even. But if you were in the room that night, then you definitely felt the energy that washed over everyone there. It was surreal. I had no idea at first, but this was something that the Chicago community absolutely needed. We all laughed, some of us cried, and hundreds of individuals left feeling inspired to create again. That feels pretty damn good.
I’m thrilled to announce that we will also be donating a significant portion of the ticket proceeds to the Greater Chicago Food Depository to help provide over 3,000 meals to families in need, further demonstrating that celebrating local art and creativity can have a profoundly positive impact on those around us.
